Reward: CAP Lifesaving Medal
Difficulty: Advanced
Estimated Time: 45 minutes
This reward is for rescuing the crashed pilot in the Civil Air Patrol Search mission. This walkthrough picks up where the Idaho CAP Search left off. So after flying over the crash site, fly about one mile towards Dixie then turn around and prepare to land. You're going to need full flaps so you can go as slow as you can (about 50-55 knots). Be sure to save the mission at this point. The elevation of the plateau is approx. 3800 feet so your approach should start from 4000 feet. Land as soon as you reach the clearing and apply full brakes. Retract the flaps and pull back on the stick to keep the nose up. DO NOT hit any brush or trees. You can steer a little if needed just be careful not to flip. Once you come to a stop, taxi over to the pilot and pick him up. After he hops in, taxi as far as you can to one side of the clearing, apply full flaps, then takeoff. You can rotate at about 60 knots.
If you've made it this far you're doing good. Head back up the valley toward Krassel. You'll get a call as you get close to the airport telling you that it's too dark to land at Krassel and you'll have to divert to McCall. Climb to 8500 feet and fly directly to McCall (following the mission compass). You have to handle the radios at this point so call in and announce your position for landing on runway 16.
Once you have the airport in sight and you've cleared the mountains, you can descend into the valley for your approach. Come to a stop on the runway and you'll be done.
