Peregrin Falcon

Reward: Peregrin Falcon

Difficulty: Intermediate

Estimated Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

This reward is for setting the course record in the Austrian Alpine Soaring Course mission. This means crossing the finish line in under 70 minutes. The key is finding lift. If you can find fast rising air, you should be able to maintain around 120+ knots most of the time. When you start out, try to climb a little in the first few thermals. I tried to gain enough altitude to take me past turn point 3. Then, just before turn point 4 on the left, you should see a large thermal reaching very high. This thermal will take you up to almost 20,000 feet. If you're not high enough to reach it, try gaining altitude in the thermal just in front of it. I continued on after about 19,000 feet and stayed around 130 knots all the way to turn point 6.

Since the wind is coming from the south, the best ridge lift is going to be along mountains to the north of the valleys. There's a long line of this ridge lift after turn point 6, all the way to turn point 9. Gain as much altitude as need, keeping in mind that you'll need about 11,000 feet to clear turn point 11. From then on, descend straight down to the finish line, then turn around and land.
