Test Pilot Survival

Reward: Test Pilot Survival

Difficulty: Expert

Estimated Time: 30 minutes

This reward is for landing safely in the 747 Test Flight mission. After taking off from Mojave Airport, you'll fly out past Edwards AFB to the testing area. Your copilot will have you perform a stall, then recover. Once you start falling, apply full power and pitch down to gain airspeed, then pull up to minimize altitude loss. Next you'll perform a departure stall with full flaps and gear down. During this procedure, your #4 engine will flame out and it won't restart. As your copilot declares an emergency, you'll lose the #3 and #2 engines as well. You'll be given clearance for the visual approach to runway 22 at Edwards. As soon as you can, you should reduce your remaining engine to idle to stop the asymmetric thrust problem. As you glide in, keep in mind that you can land on the dry lakebed in front of the runway if needed. This will give you an extra 9,000 feet to roll out on. Come to a stop to earn this reward and the Commander's Award for Civilian Service.
